The 3 Biggest Mistakes Women Make When It Comes To Colouring
Mistake #2
Colour On Colour
Women like change!
Colouring your hair light to dark & then dark to light - if not done in a professional salon - will kill your hair full stop!!! Pretty blonde pictures on box colours seem very attractive until you try it at home & you turn your hair canary yellow. Or what about chocolate brown box colour over blonde hair - you guessed it - GREEN.
Once you go green it is very hard to correct & it must be done by a professional.
As is canary yellow hair.
Always seek professional advice before a major colour change.Hairdressers - good colour correction hairdressers - should know exactly what to do the moment they look at your hair. There is nothing more heartwrenching than seeing women who have attempted to colour their hair over & over at home - only to have to cut it off.

They try & save money by colouring their hair from a Box Colour. This not only leads to the hair becoming darker over time (which is harder to colour later), but it also ends up costing women more money if something goes wrong - which inevitably it always does. Hair becomes brittle, damaged & sometimes breakage occurs if not coloured correctly. We call this a Chemical Cut - when the hair breaks from over processing (most often occurring from Do-it-yourself home colouring). Box colours use different numbering systems & wording terms to professional salon hair colours. You should NEVER take a box colour through the ends of your hair every time you colour - unless it is a gloss semi colour (which ALOT of box colours say they are - BUT ARE NOT). We see hundreds
of women desperately upset from their do-it-yourself home colouring disasters. Please do not colour your hair at home if you love your hair.
Mistake #1
Do-It-Yourself

Colour is taught to ALL hairdressers. That does not mean that all hairdressers can colour well. There is good colouring & then there is colour correction. All colour brands are not the same & all hairdressers are not the same. A great colourist should fully consult a client on their colouring history, lifestyle, scalp concerns & design a fully customised colour to suit the individual client. Knowing how to colour is extremely important. It's your money & hair at stake. All colours won't last. Can you refresh at home safely, how long should your colour be left on & is one colour enough to give you multi-tonal results? These are all important questions you should be asking your hairdresser. If not, you could be having an unqualified colour technician with your hair in their hands.
